HELPING HANDS OF MERCY – YOU ROCK!

Thank you, Mercy Community, for the overwhelming support! This December you helped make Luminary Kits, Bake cookies for Hospice, collect winter wear for those in need, AND buy Christmas gifts for children in SCAN. This truly is what Our Lady of Mercy Community is about! But, the school year isn’t over yet! The two January projects will be divided between the Middle School and Pre-k through 5. Middle School will be helping Mrs. McGowan (Annie’s Mom) with items needed in the Dominican Republic. Every year she participates in a medical mission trip and we thought it would be great to help (she will be leaving February 16th)! Right now, the need is great in the Dominican Republic due to a hurricane and then a tropical depression. If you can help with any of the following items, please send them to school MARKED Dominican Republic by the END of JANUARY.

Clothing: can be for any age from infant to adult
Shoes: gently used is okay, tennis shoes are great!
Personal hygiene items: soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, travel size toothpaste, etc.
Beanie babies and toys (not too large): may be gently used
Matchbox cars, bubbles, coloring books and colored pencils
Plastic bats, baseballs, and other sports balls (nerf type or deflatable works best for packing)
Hair accessories: hair bands, bows, and brushes
Arts and crafts supplies of any type (no crayons due to possible melting)

Pre-K through 5 will be helping Dr. Malinda (Benjamin and Anne’s dad) who is stationed in Iraq. He was hoping that we could help the Iraqi school children with school supplies. These items will be for students 5 to 10 years old.
